Brighton Beach Tennis Club partner with Grace Eyre to run rewarding beach tennis sessions

Even during the difficult Covid-19 times, during the summer 2020, BeachTennis UK and Brighton Beach Tennis Club were able to successfully
run some sessions for adults with learning disabilities from Grace Eyre Foundation.

Carefully ensuring all safety measures were taken so the sessions could
take place safely. Everyone was socially distanced on and off court, all
equipment was sanitised before, during and after the sessions.

Our experienced coaching team, Paul Dent and Sophie Cheesman
modified the sessions to address the needs of each participant. They
took into account the different health issues and ability levels, made the
sessions fun and interactive in a relaxed atmosphere, with the help of
warm sunshine.

Carers also joined in and enjoyed a game of beach tennis with the
participants they care for.

It was great to see some returning participants from the previous year,
seeing improvement in their movement on sand, hand/eye coordination
and most of all the enjoyment and fun participants were having.
One of our goals in 2021 is to increase the opportunity people with a
learning disability have to take part in Beach Tennis within local
communities.
