Junior County Cup Team – Selection Policy

Tennis Sussex Junior County Cup Team Selection Girl's tennis in Sussex

This is an impartial process led by the relevant team captain and vice-captain and includes the County Performance officer. Selections are based on a number of factors including ranking and knowledge of players – reliability, foreseeable physical fitness, conduct, and a player’s ability to work within the team.

Wildcards can be selected at any time, (i.e. at selection meetings, asked to participate in a play-off match(es) or be selected as a result of training sessions). The Team Captain will make final decision.

The captains are also responsible for confirming selection and non-selection with the Tennis Sussex Office who will notify the players/parents one month prior to the County Cup event.

Please note – Any player selected for a County Training Squad in a higher age group (and is therefore effectively training up) will be very much expected to still play and support their own correct age-group by representing Sussex should they be selected. Equally, if a player was to also be selected for an older age-group then they will be fully supported by Tennis Sussex with the opportunity to do so.
