County Training

Tennis Sussex is now in its fifth year of County Training and we offer this to players from 8 to 18 years old.

The ethos of the training is to create fantastic opportunity to get the best players in the county playing together in a pressurised environment which is not only fun but also very hard working. In addition, an environment where players gain the opportunity to work on tactics (especially in doubles) in a structure which could potentially link to selection for the county cup teams.

In the past year the following centres and clubs have provided support to Tennis Sussex by providing courts for County Training:-

Crawley TC, Eastbourne Sports Park, Southdwon Sports Club & The West Worthing Club.

Tennis Sussex County Training Programme – Selection Policy

A selection panel consisting of the County Performance Manager, County Office Manager and County Age-Group Captain (where required) will make the final selections based on the following:

The top 12 players in each age group based on their ranking after the first ranking run in September, will be awarded a direct County Training Squad place. Additional ‘Wild Card’ places can also be considered by the panel based on a combination of the following factors:

  • Extended injury or illness
  • Player’s previous ranking
  • Player’s previous WTN

  • Level of involvement within LTA Player Pathway (National, Regional, County)
