Will Southdown edge Pav & Ave in Division 9E? and congratulations to the Weald for winning 10E plus other reports

We have had some nail biters in all the Divisions – both Men and Women – and none closer than at the top of Division 9E where literally 5 teams have been and still are in the case of Southdown, contesting the Divisional Championship. At the moment Pav & Ave Ladies, despite a heavy defeat at Seaford are edging it by just one set. However if Southdown get maximum points in their last match – it could be interesting. Hold the back page.

In Division 9W – its all done with Wickwoods winning it by just 2 points over Angmering, West Chiltington and Field Place. For Wickwoods it was Karen Lane who played in all of the 6 matches dropping just three rubbers from her total of 12.

In Division 10E, things were also far more straight forward with the Weald winning the Division by a country mile. In fact they won all their matches 4 – 0 except for a draw against Mayfield. Stars of the Weald include Maria Beremska and Sarah Dean who won all their matches. A mention too for Sarah Valentine who lost just one. Plumpton had a miserable season despite the efforts of Lynn Sinden.

In Division 10W Middleton need just a draw against the Storrington 5th Team to pip Hurstpierpoint to the title. Middleton have had a strong season with players like Eleanor Lowes and Norma Nelmes racking up the sets. Fair play to Hurstpierpoint who have used a total of 15 players which once again underlines the appetite for playing league matches.

In the final division 11W, Crawley held off Aldingbourne and Middleton to win the Division. Catherine Field was the most consistent Crawley player winning all her matches.
